The lead list building playbook: 200 qualified contacts in a week
A repeatable workflow for outsourcing lead list research — the brief, the sources, the QA checks, and the exact columns that make a list actually usable.
Maya Chen1 min readWhy most outsourced lead lists are useless
Bad briefs in, bad lists out. The list arrives with broken emails, wrong titles, or contacts who left the company two years ago. The fix is the brief, not the researcher.
The brief that works
- ICP in one sentence: industry, size, geography, signal.
- Sources allowed: LinkedIn Sales Nav, Apollo, company sites. No scraped dumps.
- Columns: full name, title, company, company URL, LinkedIn URL, work email, source, verified date, notes.
- QA rule: email must verify green; titles must match a fixed allow-list.
Weekly cadence
Monday: send the brief plus 10 hand-picked examples. Wednesday: review the first 25 and correct any drift. Friday: accept the full 200 and run a final NeverBounce/ZeroBounce pass.
What this unlocks
Clean lists feed clean sequences. Reply rates jump because you're finally reaching real humans in the right seats — not the warmed-over Apollo exports your competitors are blasting.
